Schematic representation of the three major components of the metabolic rewiring observed in cancer cells. Mitochondrial metabolism, aerobic glycolysis, and fatty acid metabolism are deeply intertwined and cooperate to fulfil the increased biosynthetic demands of cancer cells. Full circles over the enzymatic reactions indicate that the reaction is controlled by oncogenes or tumour suppressor.
